The installation Lines of Flight was one of the most striking highlights of Milan Design Week 2024, presented as part of Porsche’s The Art of Dreams in the courtyard of the historic Palazzo Clerici. Designed by the studio Numen/ForUse and entirely produced in Prostoria’s factory in Croatia, the project involved precise metal constructions and experimental assemblies developed and tested on site – showcasing how Prostoria’s expertise extends far beyond the boundaries of traditional furniture production.
Conceived as a spatial exploration of geometry, symmetry, rhythm, and repetition, the installation invited visitors into a floating landscape of nets and metal cells - part sculpture, part architecture, part experience. Realising such a delicate yet monumental vision required advanced engineering, experimental prototyping, and precise craftsmanship, all executed in-house.
While Prostoria is best known for its furniture, Lines of Flight revealed another side of its expertise. The installation featured a modular system of thin metal cells overlaid with black-and-white netting stretched across crystalline frames, making the load-bearing structure both modular and visually dynamic.
At Prostoria, engineers, technicians, and craftsmen worked closely together to translate Numen/ForUse’s conceptual language into a safe, functional, and expressive structure. The result was an installation that appeared light and fluid, yet was engineered to support movement, performance, and continuous interaction.
Presented from 16–21 April 2024 as part of Porsche’s The Art of Dreams, Lines of Flight functioned as a large-scale experimental public furniture piece. Visitors were invited to climb, recline, and explore the structure, becoming an active part of the installation itself and experiencing the courtyard from unexpected perspectives.
